My name is Juan Diego Arias. I am a PhD student at the group of Dr. Rene Gerritsma and Dr. Philipe Corboz working on the simulation of spin systems and impementation of few qbit gates with ultracold ions. In my work I combine numerical simulation and experimental realization of these systems.

I am member of the Van der Waals-Zeeman Institute at the University of Amsterdam.

My current research interests are:

-quantum simulation with ultra-cold ions and atoms

-spectroscopy of (ultra-)cold atoms and molecules

-theory of many-body systems and degenerate gases

-theory of highly excited electronic states of atoms and molecules
